From a striking entrance to a two-level pool, Jaime Salvá’s recent project establishes a new relationship between architecture and landscape. Located in the exclusive Son Vida development in Palma de Mallorca, the EVOQUE villa, designed by Jaime Salvá Arquitectura & Interiorismo for the developer Sophisticated Projects, takes advantage of a steeply sloping plot to transform this challenge into a truly exceptional design opportunity.

Access to the home, from the lowest part of the plot, was a key point in the design of the project. The home is organized to optimize the topography of the site and features a main entrance through a two-level basement. This design creates a striking visual effect from the first moment. “This space houses the parking lot, a wine cellar, and a gym,” says architect Jaime Salvá, highlighting how this entrance establishes a gradual transition between the exterior and interior of the home.

On the ground floor, the main spaces are arranged in a T-shape, seamlessly integrating the living room, dining room, and kitchen, while maintaining their functional independence. “The kitchen connects with the rest of the space through natural materials that create a sense of harmony and continuity,” adds Salvá.

The exterior design also adapts to the slope of the site, with a two-level pool that adapts perfectly to the gradient, lending a unique character to the project. The flooring surrounding the pool uses the same Living Ceramics as the paving throughout the ground floor, while the mosaic tiles inside the pool are by Onix. The rear garden, conceived as a private retreat, creates a calm and relaxing atmosphere that invites you to enjoy the surroundings.

The use of locally sourced materials is essential to giving the project its identity. The dry stone walls from Santanyí, present both inside and outside the villa, add an authentic, Mediterranean touch. The engineered wood slats provide warmth, while the ETICS system on the façade ensures energy efficiency. This combination of materials and equipment achieves a clean and contemporary aesthetic.

Inside, Living Ceramics porcelain flooring extends throughout the common areas and bathrooms, creating a uniform aesthetic. Meanwhile, the oak wood flooring on the upper floor brings warmth and comfort to the villa’s bedrooms and hallways.

The EVOQUE project demonstrates how it is possible to take full advantage of the characteristics of a challenging site, creating distinct spaces with personality. Elements such as the two-level pool, access via the basement, and the use of local materials give it a distinct identity, while the balance between functionality and aesthetics allows the home to take full advantage of the views and natural light.

Construction took approximately 19 months and was carried out by the construction company Building More. The interior design project was led by Marga Comas, while the landscaping was done by Cultivos Pima. The kitchen was designed by Espacio Home Design in collaboration with Modulnova.
