In the heart of Mallorca lies the Son Llaneres home, a masterpiece by the firm of JAIME SALVÁ, Arquitectura & Interiorismo. This project represents an oasis of contemporary sophistication, perfectly integrated into a rustic setting. The house, commissioned by a Spanish family living abroad, was conceived as a refuge where the connection with nature merges with a modern and functional design.
Project challenges and design solutions

One of the main challenges of the project was achieving harmony between contemporary design and the strict aesthetic restrictions imposed by a rural setting. The home, strategically located on a large plot near the municipality of Campos, needed to blend naturally with the surrounding landscape without compromising its modernity and functionality.

To overcome these challenges, the team at JAIME SALVÁ, Arquitectura & Interiorismo, took advantage of the flat topography and rural setting to blend the home into its surroundings. By using local materials and a design that respects traditional aesthetics, they were able to create a residence that not only complies with regulatory restrictions but also stands out as an example of contemporary sophistication in a rustic setting.
Design and volumetrics

The design of Son Llaneres breaks the aesthetic limitations mentioned in the previous section through an intelligent combination of locally sourced materials. The building’s volumetrics, achieved through the combination of sloping roofs, effectively hierarchizes the spaces. This configuration allows for clear differentiation of the four outdoor areas, organized in a cross-shaped layout: one for the entrances, another for the master bedroom, a third for the guest area, and finally, the ground floor houses the L-shaped living room, dining room, and kitchen, opening onto the porch and pool.
Layout and functionality

Upstairs, the home has two additional bedrooms and a bathroom, completing a functional and comfortable layout. The predominant use of local materials typical of Mediterranean architecture is highlighted both inside and outside the house.
Materials and finishes

The exterior of Son Llaneres features a stunning façade of Santanyí dry stone, combined with stucco cladding in ochre tones. Regarding the flooring, the gray Zarci natural stone was chosen, which is used both inside and outside the home. Due to the constraints of the rustic soil, a sloping Arabic tile roof was used, adding a traditional touch to the contemporary design.
Furniture and personal style

The furniture at Son Llaneres, composed primarily of natural woods and light tones, was carefully selected by the clients to reflect their style and preferences. This careful selection contributes to a welcoming and elegant atmosphere, which perfectly complements the architectural design of the home.
Additional interior design details for Son Llaneres

Architectural lighting
To enhance the architectural details, LED lights have been installed on the floor, especially on the stone walls and in the bathroom and kitchen niches. These lights highlight the embossed tiles designed by Patricia Urquiola, adding a sophisticated touch to each space.
Lighting design

The home’s lighting has been meticulously designed with wall lights by Tonia Fuster, which emulate the island’s traditional materials. Additionally, Aromas del Campo created a combination of natural alabaster, straw, and wrought iron to achieve a decor and lighting that blends rustic with contemporary, in perfect harmony with the home’s overall style.
Pendant lamps

The pendant lamps have been carefully selected to add character to specific spaces. Of particular note are the kitchen counter lamps, crafted from natural stone and wrought iron by Aromas del Campo; the dining room lamps, custom-made with sackcloth by Peralta; and the wicker lamps on the terrace. The ceilings, adorned with exposed white and wood beams, not only provide a distinguished touch to the home but also create a sense of spaciousness thanks to their height.
Bathroom design

The bathrooms are equipped with Inbani products, renowned for their quality and style. The black faucets add a touch of sophistication, in keeping with other wrought iron elements throughout the home. The sinks, each with a unique design, become the focal point of each bathroom, while the curved mirrors with LED lighting provide functionality and an additional decorative element.
In summary

Every detail of Son Llaneres’s exterior and interior design has been carefully considered to create a space that combines contemporary elegance with traditional rusticity. The lighting, selected materials, and decorative elements come together to offer an aesthetic and functional experience that reflects JAIME SALVÁ, Arquitectura & Interiorismo’s commitment to quality and innovation in design.
