Joël Andrianomearisoa transforms Cheval Blanc Seychelles into an art gallery.

Beyond being a luxury resort, Cheval Blanc Seychelles aims to present itself to the world as a kind of laboratory where art, design, and nature converge in perfect harmony. By commissioning Joël Andrianomearisoa to create a unique creation that unfolds throughout its villas and common spaces, the Maison challenges convention and, in a way, poses an interesting question: Can hospitality be transformed into an artistic medium that awakens deep and memorable emotions in every guest? This proposal undoubtedly gives a new meaning to the limits of the cultural experience in luxury destinations.

An exclusive retreat designed by Jean-Michel Gathy

Designed by the prestigious architect Jean-Michel Gathy, Cheval Blanc Seychelles offers an intimate and exclusive retreat consisting of 52 luxury villas surrounded by lush vegetation. Each space is designed to provide privacy, comfort, and direct contact with the natural environment, creating an oasis of serenity in the Indian Ocean.

Contemporary art at the service of the guest experience

To celebrate the opening, Cheval Blanc commissioned renowned contemporary artist Joël Andrianomearisoa to create a unique work entitled “A Breath of Time in the Melody of Our Dreams.”

The Malagasy artist deployed a poetic and sensorial language, inspired by the contrasts of Mahé: the white of the beaches, the black of the volcanic rocks, the green of the jungle, and the deep blue of the ocean. His textile work, presented in 52 exclusive shades—one for each villa—interacts with light and air, becoming a living extension of the island landscape.

Design and detail in every corner of the resort

In the Le White restaurant, conceived as a minimalist “white cube,” Andrianomearisoa created monumental canvases on site with a series of patterns that transform the space into a contemporary art gallery. The artist’s collaboration extends to details such as:

  • An exclusive logo designed by Andrianomearisoa himself.
  • Luxury tableware created in partnership with Bernardaud.
  • Delicate embroidery on the staff uniforms reflects the harmony between art and hospitality.

“From the walls to the napkins, a rhythmic journey, the melody of a dream reaches our hearts,” says the artist, who approaches each project as a holistic artistic experience.

A graduate of the École Spéciale d’Architecture de Paris, Joël Andrianomearisoa lives and works between Antananarivo and Paris. His work has been exhibited at prestigious international venues, including the Venice Biennale (2019), the Centre Pompidou, and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., consolidating his reputation for capturing emotions through contemporary art.

A perfect combination of art, design, and luxury hospitality

Ultimately, Cheval Blanc Seychelles sets a new standard in the integration of contemporary art and hospitality. The collaboration with Joël Andrianomearisoa transforms each villa, every detail, and every experience into a living work of art, where nature and design intertwine with artistic sensibility. For those seeking more than comfort, this destination offers a unique invitation: to immerse yourself in a universe where art is felt, breathed, and lived, leaving an indelible impression on every visitor.
